The Mothership Collective

August 2006          South London Gallery

Artist Eloise Calandre was invited by Harold Offeh to create a performance as part of The Mothership Collective . She chose to explore the aural qualities of language, how - when perhaps stripped of literal meaning - it can still have an emotional resonance.

Seated amongst the audience, performers spoke an overlapping, repeated text which built up changing rhythms of different speeds and intensity. Julia performed in French, in a company of Czech, German, Greek, Japanese, Mandarin, Polish, Swedish and Turkish speakers.
