Swallow Song was conceived and directed by Lydia Koniordou, one of Greece's leading classical actresses. It told the story of the loss of innocence and the experience of growing from child to citizen in Ancient Greece. Rehearsals offered a great oppportunity for the company to develop their movement skills and gain a deeper appreciation of choral work in Greek drama.
The principal roles were taken by Greek actors from the National Theatre of Greece and the chorus comprised six young British actors. Swallow Song interwove excerpts from Trojan Women, Iphigenia at Aulis, Oedipus and Ion and featured an original score by Takis Farazis.
