Richard II was an open-air production for the Ludlow Festival and took place in the town's castle, parts of which are over 1000 years old. Directed by Steven Berkoff , the cast included Timothy Walker as Richard II, Joseph Millson as Bolingbroke, Julia Tarnoky as Queen Isabel and Liza Sadovy as the Duchess of York.

The production was set in a Wildean era of dandys and wits and had all the hallmarks of Berkoff's very visual and physically expressive theatrical style. Julia played the lady-in-waiting to the queen and also enjoyed being part of the ensemble, which echoed a greek chorus in the way it commented and responded to the action.

After performances in Ludlow, the production was then invited to perform at the Almagro Festival, in La Mancha, Spain.
