Shown at the Royal Opera House as part of the Deloitte Festival Ignite 09, Absent was an installation combining live performance and film. Responding to the theme of 'the mirror' which ran through the festival and inspired by the opera 'Powder Her Face' the piece followed the rise and fall of the legendary Duchess, from her youth in the 1950s to her eventual rejection by the society which had adored her.

Julia was part of the film sequence towards the end of the piece which evoked the bygone era in which the Duchess had flourished.
